Senior Advisor, Strategic Innovation, Research & Insights, National Center for Learning Disabilities
Sheldon Horowitz is the Senior Advisor of Strategic Innovation, Research & Insights at the National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD). He provides leadership and oversight of key programs, and serves as an in-house expert on learning and attention issues to the NCLD and Understood teams. During his more than twenty years at NCLD, Sheldon has provided leadership on many of NCLD’s projects and programs as well as oversight of NCLD’s Professional Advisory Board. He enjoys being the ‘go to’ person for questions about learning and attention issues across program areas, and is co-author of NCLD’s signature publication, The State of Learning Disabilities Report. Sheldon completed his master’s degree at Peabody College, Vanderbilt University and holds a doctorate in learning disabilities from Teachers College, Columbia University, in New York, with a specialization in learning disabilities and neurosciences in education.
Executive Director at The SALT Center, The University of Arizona
As the Executive Director of the SALT Center, Gabrielle Miller leads a large multi-disciplinary team of professionals providing a comprehensive range of services to students with learning and attention challenges. She engages with internal and external stakeholders to ensure both program integrity and innovation, securing additional funding, and extending the reach of the SALT Center model to a wide range of constituents. Gabrielle currently serves as a founding board member of the National Association of Family, School and Community Engagement (NAFSCE), member of the National Association of Developmental Educators, and as a national board member of the Learning Disabilities Association of America. She holds a B.S. in Elementary & Special Education from The University of Delaware, and an M.S. and Ed. D in Special Education & Administration from The Johns Hopkins University.
Director of Diversity & Inclusion, Centene Corporation
Alishea Johnson is Director of Diversity & Inclusion at Centene Corporation. Alishea is responsible for leading training for the D&I Office to promote diversity and inclusion to create an equity based workplace that supports and empowers all employees to be heard, respected, and appreciated. She is also charged with managing Centene’s external relationships to enhance presence in the community to build a diverse pipeline and develop leaders. In this capacity Alishea supports the organization’s commitment to attract, hire, develop and retain diverse talent at all levels to reflect the communities Centene serves. Alishea received her bachelors in Management Information Systems from Missouri University of Science & Technology, obtained her MBA at Fontbonne University, is a Certified Diversity Professional (CDP), and serves on the Executive Committee of the Diversity Awareness Partnership Board of Directors. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, working in her field and mentoring.
